Anaida

Note: This was one of the earliest official write-ups from BMG-Crescendo (India) on Anaida on their pages at TimePass.com. It appeared soon after Anaida's blazing success in 1996.

Anaida is today's ultimate pop star. Beautiful and talented, Anaida is a performer right down to her lovely bones.

Singing is something Anaida was born to. Music courses through her blood. In fact, her earliest memories are of her belting out popular tunes when she was only six. Slowly, Anaida graduated to voice-overs and jingles.

And then, a brilliant solo career launched four years ago, was the natural step to the top. Through the years, Anaida trained extensively in classical Persian music and English classical training. For the past three years, she has trained in Indian classical music.

Anaida was Crescendo's first genuine artiste -- her lilting voice and sensuous looks were a potent combination. She grabbed the attention of all and has not looked back since.

Anaida released two albums in quick succession -- "Love Today Hai Nahin Asaan" and "Nazuk Nazuk".

And from the foot-tapping tracks of these albums, BMG Crescendo picked up four songs for highly entertaining videos.

Anaida's first video, "Hotline" was a slick, dance-oriented number which captured a huge fan-following. Dancing away to the song's catchy beat, Anaida showed everyone, fans and critics alike, what a spectacular dancer she is.

After all, she has won all-India dancing awards three years in a row!!

"Love Today Hai Nahin Asaan" , her second video, brought Anaida's impish, comic talent to the fore. Bollywood's leading choreographer, Saroj Khan, broke tradition to direct this pop video for Anaida. And playing with the camera, Anaida again charmed her way with all.

Poised for greater things, Anaida's third video "Oova Oova" established her as a sultry singer with the magic touch. Grooving to the catchy beat of this top seller, Anaida lets her magical voice capture the man from the castle as well as from the street.

A classic production, "Oova Oova" has Anaida in brilliant form -- romancing the camera, shining in her stylish costumes, changing images effortlessly like a seasoned actress while her fabulous voice glided like silk over these images.

Anaida's last video, "Hoo Halla Hoo" is a coup de grace. This was India's first totally animated video, where Anaida lends elegance and panache to a hilarious storyline. What is more spectacular is that she emotes like a professional to characters that do not even exist -- except on the hard disk of a computer!! Her stage was a polished floor and her backdrop was a blue screen!! But with Anaida, no task is tough enough to handle. In fact, she also lent her skills as a script writer for "Hoo Halla Hoo".

Anaida has also a single called "Fever" to her credit, the first ever in India. She also has highly popular tracks in the album "Ekta", in Channel V Hits Ultimate Dance Collection and the Max Collection.

Currently, Anaida is involved with prestigious projects like an album of Arabic songs where she also teams up with a Syrian singer called Shukri for a few duets. A video is in the pipeline by October this year.

Another ace up her sleeve is the Hindi version of the young and bubbly track "Hakuna Matata". Anaida and Baba Sehgal pour out their heart and soul to make the law of the jungle come alive! Don't worry, be happy and everything else will fall into place!!

As it did for Anaida. She had been nominated by Channel V for best vocals, which went on for the Billboard Viewer's Choice Award. Her fabulous performance at the Channel [v] 1996 music awards electrified the audience.

There is no place else but the top for Anaida to climb. She knows she will get there.
